Kort Schubert (born July 24, 1979 in Sacramento, California)[1] is an American rugby union footballer. He plays blindside flank or number eight.
He made his debut for the US Eagles in May 2000 playing against Japan in a 36–21 win. Schubert was an ever present figure in the American side during the 2001, 2002 and 2003 seasons. Previously he captained the University of California and won five consecutive US collegiate championships. He was named 2001–02 University of California (Berkeley) Athlete of the Year. Schubert began his rugby career at Jesuit High School in Carmichael, California. Jesuit High School won the 2006 national rugby championship. Schubert played with Welsh side Cardiff Blues which competes in the Celtic League and as of 2008 has 48 caps for the US Eagles and has scored four tries (20 points).
Currently, Schubert has joined the Cal coaching staff for the 2007 season as an assistant to head coach Jack Clark. Cal Rugby welcomes Schubert as it celebrates its 125th anniversary season.
